Stephen Hawking: NHS Is Britain’s Finest Public Service and Must Be Preserved from Commercial Interests.
Australian politicians are just as bad. The Prime Minister (Tony Abbot), Treasurer (Joe Hocking), NSW Premier (Mike Baird), NSW Health Minister (Jillian Skinner), are allowing their communities major referral hospitals campus to be sold to commercial interests (http://save.rnsh.org). A short term financial gain, that would pay for the operating costs of a major teaching hospital for only a few months. The hospital campus will need to provide for the health care of our community for centuries to come. What if our parents had sold all the community’s assets to look after themselves? It’s time to speak to your local politician and get them to understand that either they act in the best interest of the community or they step aside in favour of someone who will. Mr Abbott needs to understand that the strongly held views of the community and are not just “electronic graffiti”
